OGC High Performing Property

Public Service Partnership Ltd is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the contract to manage the Government's annual Property Asset Management Conference for the next three years. The first is to be held at the QEII Conference Centre, Westminster on July 10th 2009.
Whilst we are currently in discussion with OGC about the details, such as plenary speakers, breakout session titles etc, we feel that it would be remiss of us not to make all potentially interested parties aware that this event will be taking place.
Mike Burt – Director, Government Estate Transformation, OGC, comments:
2008 has presented, and 2009 will continue to present, major challenges to Government in ensuring that the opportunities, benefits and savings from its extensive property portfolio are maximised.
High on the Government's agenda are:
* The need to exploit the estate as a corporate asset with increased collaboration between central Government and the wider Public Sector.
* The need for a strategic business driven approach to property asset management linked to regionally focussed initiatives, such as Civil Service in the English Regions.
* The need for a significant improvement in sustainable building and estate performance.
Central themes for the conference will therefore focus on addressing these challenges and in particular will look at:
* The implementation implications of the property strand of the Operational Efficiency Programme that will report at Budget 2009.
* The climate change act 2008 State of the Estate Report that will have been laid before Parliament by June 1st 2009.
* The challenges on the continued delivery of the High Performing Property Initiative, including the on-going relocation of Civil Service posts from London and the South East.
Sub-themes will explore these challenges in more detail and will include:
* High quality management information and how to use it.
* Skills and capability – what makes a highly capable team?
* Making effective workplaces – creativity, team working, high in quality and productivity.
* Innovative ICT supporting flexibility.
* The demanding workforce – attracting and retaining talent.
* Leadership and integration.
* Driving efficiency – shared services, better deals, making best use of the estate.
* Relocation – wider benefits.
* Benchmarks and standards.
