The World Environment Day takes place on Thursday 5th June with the message to “Kick the Habit!” of producing CO2. The Day is organised annually by the UN to raise awareness and generate action on environmental issues. This year the slogan is Kick the Habit! - Towards a Low Carbon Future in recognition that climate change is becoming the defining issue of our era.
World Environment Day first started back in 1972, to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, and this year is being supported by a range of well known faces, including Richard Branson and Mikhail Gorbachev. The Day encourages people to make a commitment to Kick the CO2 Habit, reduce your carbon footprint and then offset your remaining emmissions.
