For those who took a holiday in the UK this month it will come as no surprise that the Met Office has announced that August has had the least sunshine since 1912. And if that is not bad enough it is the sixth wettest month since records began.
England had just 63 per cent of the average sunshine hours in August, and 40 per cent more rain.
For those crossing their fingers for an Indian summer in September the outlook is not good, with forecasters predicting the same mix of sunshine and showers.
