Public wants more action by businesses to tackle climate change

A study of the attitude of Europeans towards climate change has revealed that they want corporations and industry to do more to fight climate change.

Commissioned by the EU, the “Europeans’ attitudes towards climate change” study, showed that 76% of respondents feel that corporations and industry are not doing enough.  The seriousness of climate change is high on the agenda of public attitudes, with “climate change” ranked the second most serious issue (62%), behind “poverty and the lack of food” (68%).

The study also looked into the demographics of attitudes on climate change, with men and young people believing that it is a more serious issue than women and older respondents.

Reflecting on their own actions, 67% believe that they could do more to tackle climate change, and also feel that their national government needs to do more, at 64%.
