Could Kangaroo’s help fight climate change?

The Kangaroo’s might not like it, but Australia’s chief climate change advisor is encouraging more people to eat Kangaroo meat to help tackle climate change.
Cows and sheep produce methane as part of their digestion process, whereas Kangaroos on produce virtually no methane. This makes them, in theory, a more climate friendly option for meat eaters.
Whilst the thought of eating their national symbol may be off putting to many Australians it is not a new idea, with Australia’s history showing that Kangaroo meat was on the menu some 60,000 years ago.
In a new report, Australia’s chief climate change advisor Ross Garnaut, proposed that cow and sheep farmers should consider switching to Kangaroo farming instead, as part of move to reduce the country’s carbon footprint.
Kangaroo meat is currently served in some restaurants throughout the county at the moment, along with crocodile and emu.
