East African Low Energy Lighting (CFL 2009)

The low energy bulbs consume around 20% of the energy used by the equivalent incandescent bulbs. These bulbs will be installed in areas where energy is largely derived from fossil fuel, ensuring that the carbon saving is maximised. The recipients of the bulbs benefit from lower energy bills and, due to their greater lifespan, reduced replacement costs and waste.  Over seven years three low energy bulbs will save 1 tonne of CO2.
