Energy Efficient School Stoves - East Africa

This stove is effectively a large scale ‘Rocket Stove’ which heats a 100 litre pot and is suitable for use in schools and other institutions such as hospitals and NGO communes.

The stoves are approximately 75% more efficient in the use of wood and/or charcoal and typically have a carbon saving of about 60 tonnes per annum (depending on fuel type and the number of people the stove is used to produce food for) which over a 7 year period equates to a saving of approximately 420 tonnes.  In reality the stoves last much longer although a little maintenance may be required.

This project is key to co2balance’s triple benefit ethos which, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, will help reduce deforestation, poverty and improve working conditions for those using the stoves.
